According to the dictionary, iridescent means “producing a display of lustrous, rainbowlike colors.” Also, it could mean “brilliant, lustrous or colourful in effect or appearance.” If tiles look like this, I want to have them installed in my kitchen immediately.
I am a homeowner looking for iridescent glass tiles for my DIY kitchen project. I want my countertops and kitchen backsplash to give off a kind of shine like that of a rainbow. But before I buy any brand or type of iridescent kitchen glass tile, I made sure I searched about it online
I am seriously considering using iridescent glass tiles made from recycled glass. Not only can I help saving our environment in my own way, I can beautify my home as well. As you may already know, iridescent glass tiles are a popular choice for homeowners like me because they are impervious to water, heat resistant and thaw resistant. Plus, their colors will not fade. As I scouted around for these beautiful iridescent glass tiles, I found a lot of colors and styles that I really want. Here are some of the pretty iridescent glass tile brands that I am contemplating of purchasing:
1. Hakatai Tivoli Series – The Tivoli series from Hakatai redefines elegance because of iridescence. It creates color fluctuations and exciting highlights that are extremely beautiful to look at. The Hakatai Tivoli series is made from about 70% of recycled glass and has a base of ¾”. The Tivoli series comes in two wonderful colors of indigo blend and black gold blend. It is also mesh mounted so installation will be pretty easy.
2. Oceanside Tessera Incense Mosaic Pattern – Oceanside Glass Tile is a reputable company offering recycled glass tiles. Their glass tiles are really exceptional. I instantly fell in love with the Incense iridescent glass tile in mosaic pattern. The beautiful iridescent glass tile is made of silica sand and 86% recycled glass. Handcrafted, the Tessera Incense iridescent glass tile is face mounted on paper for a no sweat, for a lack of a better term, application.
3. Lightstream Gold Iridescent Collection in Amber – What I love about Lightstream Gold Iridescent Collection is that it is reversible. You get to use the textured and metallic iridescent look on one side and the shiny transparent side on the other. You can alternate the application of this tile for a more unique look. But the biggest flaw of this brand of tile is that it isn’t “Go Green.”
Obviously, the Tivoli and the Tessera series are my choice picks. But before I make my final choice, I ordered some tile samples. Remember, the color and lustre of the tile that you see in your monitor may be different when you see it up close. While I am waiting for my Tessera and Tivoli iridescent glass tiles to arrive, I refreshed my memory with a few iridescent glass tile installation tips. I also a checklist of all the tools and materials I would need for my DIY kitchen project. With every home project that I plan, I make sure not to forget to have fun and be creative.
