Lapis Iridescent – Iluminati Glass Mosaic Tiles I335

Lapis lazuli is a semi-precious stone with an intense and brilliant blue color. The Ancient Egyptians, 7,000 years ago, used the stone for their jewelry and small decorative boxes, carvings, and scarabs. Owing to its beauty, it is still used in the same way today. It is this color and brilliance that the Lapis Iridescent – Iluminati Glass Mosaic Tiles I335 attempts to reproduce.

Of course the glass tiles fall short, but they come close. They have a deep blue saturation that mimics the real thing and a measured iridescence. You’ll see rainbow colors reflected on the glass under the glare of a bright light, but only just so, never enough to overpower the deep blue, or ultramarine as the old Europeans called the color of the lapis.

The mounting of the individual tiles is purposely irregular. This is to lend an aura of an Old World charm to their final installation. You can, however, opt for a more regular mounting if you prefer a modern look with its precise grout lines.

The glass mosaic tiles with the irregular mounting are 15 mm squares, while those mounted with the straight grout lines are either 20 mm, 26 mm, or 49 mm. All of these differently sized tiles, however, have the same thickness at 4 mm. For the 15 mm squares, the average number of tiles is 361. These are back-mounted on a mesh network.

The Lapis Iridescent – Iluminati Glass Mosaic Tiles I335 can be used on the walls of your bathroom, your kitchen, and as a backsplash behind the sink. It is also suited for light-traffic floors, such as the bathroom or the area around your pool or spa. You can even use them as highlights on your swimming pool walls.
