Viridian Recycled Glass Tile

Building a house almost always involves a degradation of the environment. Trees have to be cut for lumber; stones, gravel, and sand have to be extracted from the quarries for masonry works; and minerals have to be mined for cement, ceramics, and glass. While these cannot be totally eliminated, they can be minimized. Engineered wood, synthetic resins and binders, and recycled glass can help.
Viridian Recycled Glass Tile is one of those that are helping minimize the negative environmental impact of house-building. It is 98% made of glass from the windows of old buildings and the waste material from glass windshield and window production.
Viridian is offered in two styles –Pearl and Industrial. Pearl, like the gem after which it was named, has a soft iridescence and is primarily suited for walls. It can, however, also be used on floors with light traffic. The Industrial, on the other hand, has a dull matte texture with a non-slip finish that can be used for walls and floors, even those with high traffic such as in commercial applications. Both Pearl and Industrial can be used outdoors and indoors, including wet areas.
There are 20 different colors and shades to choose from including the white Brix Cotton, Pearl Ocean, Pearl Hibiscus, Industrial Coal, and Industrial Coffee. The 1-square inch tiles are glued to a mesh sheet backing arranged 13 tiles horizontally and 13 vertically, for a total of 169 tiles. The distance between the tiles is 1/16 of an inch. The mesh sheet can cover an area of 1.15 square feet.
